(JACKSON COUNTY) — A Parma Township man is behind bars after deputies say they uncovered evidence of child abuse and domestic assault.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the 32-year-old suspect was arrested Friday after an investigation that began at Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson, where deputies were called just before 11 a.m. on November 7.
Following the report, investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Parma Township and found the man inside with a small child showing signs of neglect.
Deputies took the child into protective custody and transferred them to Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor for treatment. The child remains hospitalized and is now in the care of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
The suspect was booked into the Jackson County Jail and faces charges of first-degree child abuse and domestic assault. The case remains under investigation.
